If this is happening to you, you probably have a JPEG compressed desktop picture set using the Appearance or Desktop Pictures control panel. For some reason, on a very small number of computers, JPEG desktop pictures cause a crash when Window Monkey is installed. (This conflict does not happen to most people using JPEG desktop pictures.)

We believe it's a bug in the operating system, because a clean install of the system software — without changing Window Monkey at all — always eliminates the problem.

An easier way to work around it is by saving your JPEG desktop picture as a standard Macintosh PICT file, using any graphics program. If you have trouble doing this, let us know and we can do it for you.

If this problem occurs on your computer, please let us know about it; it's happened to only three people that we know of, and we're looking for more information about why it happens so we can eliminate the problem.
