A couple of people have reported that this problem happens in Windows 2000 when they begin using a new bulb they've downloaded from our Web site. Although we've never seen the problem ourselves, it seems that the animation of the bulb might be causing memory problems in certain versions of Windows when combined with other software.

If this begins happening to you after installing a new bulb that has a great deal of animation, you can probably solve it by using simpler bulbs.

Alternately, if you choose "Exit Holiday Lights" from the popup menu before you try to shut down the computer, that also appears to avoid the problem.
