The Holiday Lights screen saver isn't listed in the Display control panel, so the screen saver doesn't work. Why not?

The Holiday Lights screen saver, like all other Windows screen savers, requires a special file (named Holiday Lights.scr) in the Windows directory. That file is missing from your computer.

The Holiday Lights setup program places this file in the correct location when you first install Holiday Lights. It may be missing from your computer because:

  • You moved Holiday Lights from one computer to another without using the setup program
  • You restored the Holiday Lights program from a backup without restoring the screen saver file
  • A friend sent you Holiday Lights by e-mail and didn't send the setup program

You should always use the setup program when installing or moving Holiday Lights, because it installs all the needed files. (It's also a good way to ensure you have the latest version.)

Simply download a fresh copy of the setup program from our Web site and run it on the new machine, then type your existing serial number if you're a paid user. That will guarantee that you have everything you need. And don't worry — this won't disturb any extra bulbs, music, or background pictures you might have added.
